The City of Glendale has announced plans for a a $175 million retail and entertainment project to be developed adjacent to Cherry Creek. This project has been titled Glendale 180 and is planned to be located at Virginia Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.

In the 1970s Glendale with its collection of bars and dance clubs was Denver’s top destination for people in their 20s. By the 1990s Lower Downtown Denver had surpassed Glendale as the top location for night life in the Denver area.

“For 30 years, Glendale, Colorado, surrounded by Denver and just steps from the Cherry Creek Shopping District, was the area’s premier entertainment destination, filled with popular clubs, restaurants, and bars,” states Glendale Mayor Mike Dunafon. “After over a decade of neglect and political in-fighting, the citizens took back the City and set it on a new course… “backward to the future!” Now, building on Glendale’s entertainment heritage and utilizing one of the most desirable development sites in the United States, Glendale 180 will return the City to its place as the entertainment hub of the Denver metroplex.”

Glendale 180 is actively marketing towards potential retail, dinning and entertainment tenants. The project will include over 300,000 square feet of leasable space with a third of that planned as space for entertainment tenants. Through a combination of a parking structure, surface parking, and underground parking the development is slated to accommodate 2,270 parking spaces.

“Once the project gets going, we will average between 300 and 400 workers on the site,” said Mark Huber of Turner Construction- the general contractor on the project. “We expect that when it’s all said and done, over 1,000,000 man hours will be used to build the project.”

Wulfe & Co is the developer and the architect of record is Gensler. Glendale 180 is set to break ground this fall with project completion expected fall of 2017.
