A new Westin Hotel is slated to begin construction in Greenwood Village this summer. This hotel project will be located on a 3.5 acre parcel on the east side of 1-25 just north of where Yosemite Street crosses over the highway. Currently the parcel serves as a surface lot. Milwaukee-bassed Arrival Partners LLC is developing this project.

Once completed the Westin Greenwood Village will feature 203 rooms, a pool and underground parking. The Arapahoe at Village Center RTD light rail station sits just south of the site of this development. Once RTD’s East Line opens in 2016, hotel guests will have rail access to Denver International Airport.

“We selected Greenwood Village as the premier location for Westin Greenwood Village because of the density of Fortune 500 companies that are headquartered here,” said Doug Nysse, Principal, Arrival Partners LLC. “The Westin Greenwood Village has the opportunity to leverage the investments in multimodal transit and pedestrian connections that are already in place at the Village Center.”

This hotel will feature a restaurant and bar, a coffee shop and 10,000 square feet of meeting space. Part of the approval of this project included meeting the public’s request for public space to be located on the 3.5 acre property that can be used for future community events.

“The developer group recognized the importance of several quality of life issues for us,” said Jim Sanderson, City Manager. “We found a balance to ensure their business could be successful and our residents and businesses would not be negatively affected.”

Two neighborhood input meetings on the proposed project were held in May 2013 and January 2014 as well as public hearings hosted by the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council in October and November 2014. The City Council’s approval of Westin Greenwood Village included negotiation of several key issues to mitigate adverse impacts on adjacent neighborhoods. Traffic, signage, building design, and landscaping were some of the issues staff and the developer group worked through.

“We commend Greenwood Village’s leadership for embracing this investment and appreciate the high standards established by Greenwood Village that results in only the highest quality developments,” added Nysse. “We are thrilled to become a member of the Greenwood Village community.”
