After years of work and planning, the Westin Denver International Airport hotel and conference center is set to open on Nov. 19th. The public is invited to take an early look inside first. The hotel and the public plaza will be open to the public for a special preview event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15.
RTD has recently announced the University of Colorado A Line that will provide commuter rail service between Denver Union Station and Denver International Airport will begin service on April 22, 2016.
Commuter rail trains will travel up to 79 mph and carry more people than light rail vehicles—200 people at maximum. The vehicles will offer level boarding to better accommodate travelers with luggage and accessibility needs.
The rail line will serve eight stations, including Denver Union Station and the new Denver Airport Station located at the south terminal at DIA serving airport travelers and guests of the new Westin Denver International Airport Hotel.
The sneak peek of the hotel includes views from the pool and fitness center, the Sky Lobby and the pre-function conference area. Outside on the public plaza, there will be live entertainment, games, food vendors and a temporary art gallery. Entry to the event is free, and food will be available for purchase.
“We know that travelers have seen the hotel rise from the ground for the last three years, and we are delighted to finally offer a sneak preview of the equally beautiful interior of this landmark project,” said airport CEO Kim Day. “This special preview event is our way of thanking the community we serve for their support and patience throughout the construction process and to showcase the offerings of this amazing facility.”
The entrance to the public plaza is located adjacent to the south TSA checkpoint on level five of the Jeppesen Terminal. Parking is available in the east and west garages and economy lots for $3 per hour or at the Pikes Peak shuttle lot for $2 per hour participants should call 303-214-5639 for information about possible schedule changes.
