Wicker Park announced for Stapleton

Wicker Park, a new housing community has been announced to be developed in Denver’s Stapleton neighborhood. Wicker Park will take shape on the north side of I-70, and will represent the third community constructed on that side of the interstate.

A large park aptly named Wicker park will be the nexus of this community. This development will include 240 single-family homes.

The Stapleton development was once the home to Denver’s Stapleton Airport which served air travelers until Denver International Airport opened in 1995. After Stapleton closed it created 4,700 acres of development opportunity. Forrest City Enterprises is the master developer of Stapleton.

“One of the best things about Stapleton is the unique characteristics embraced by each of the neighborhoods that make up our community,” said John Lehigh, president of Forest City Stapleton. “Starting with 29th Avenue neighborhood, to Willow Park East neighborhood and now onto Wicker Park, each neighborhood has its own identity. Wicker Park will embrace a charming and quaint urban vibe thanks to the bouquet of home styles lining the streets.”

Seven homebuilders will be constructing the homes which are:

  • Infinity Home Collection
  • KB Home
  • Lennar
  • New Town Builders
  • Parkwood Homes
  • Wonderland Homes

The homes in Wicker Park will be priced between the $200s and the $800s. The size of the homes will range between 1,100 and 3,800 square feet.

The park itself will include a soccer field, walking paths and a playground. A garden titled– Boston Street Gardens is also featured at the park.

“Boston Street Garden combines front yards with a shared garden space and creates a true urban oasis,” said Builder Program Director Lisa Hall of Forest City Stapleton. “Inspiration was drawn from the charming brick road, lined with elegant homes adjacent to outdoor gardens, known as Louisville Lane in Louisville, Kentucky.”

Once Stapleton is fully built-out it is expected to accommodate 30,000 residents in 12,000 homes. In 2014 500 hundred brand new homes were sold in Stapleton.

In 2016 a commuter rail line will open that will provide service between Denver’s Union Station and Denver International Airport. A station that will serve this line will be located in Stapleton near the intersection of Smith Road and Central Park Boulevard. This station is named Central Park Station and will provide parking for 1,500 vehicles.
