This morning a ground breaking ceremony was held for the new additions to Colorado Center. Members of the development team and representatives from the City and County of Denver were on hand to officially break ground on this project. Initial construction work has been taking place on site for about a month.
This development will take shape near the intersection of Colorado Boulevard and I-25. An RTD light rail stop is adjacent to this property. A Dave & Busters and Colorado Center Stadium 9 & IMAX currently call Colorado Center home. This project is being developed by Lincoln Property Company and ASB Real Estate Investments.
Scott Caldwell, senior vice president of Lincoln Property Company stated, “This has been a long time coming to celebrate the ground breaking of the next phase of development at Colorado Center.” Caldwell added, “By early 2013 the economy began to thrive again and we knew it was time to dust off our plans and make this vision a reality.”
This project will include a 210,000 square foot class AA office building and a 205,000 square foot residential tower that will house 189 apartments and 80 loft-style units with a fitness center. Also featured in this development will be the addition of 40,000 square feet of new retail space. The office and residential components will be housed in two separate buildings.
David Tryba, principal of Tryba Architects spoke at today’s ground breaking, “As architects we devote most of our time to technology and energy to help clients realize the potential of their projects. We like to think of ourselves as partners in this endeavor translating their goals and aspirations into that elusive but important sense of place.”
Denver City Council District 4 Representative Kendra Black also commented on Colorado Center, “It is a well planned transit oriented development with much needed residential, office, and retail. This project is proof that Denver’s robust economy extends beyond central Denver and in south east Denver we are excited to have some of the action.”
